set info guidelines

just a place to put things as I think of them.

ULTIMATELY, ACO is a reference, and we try to be a good one. We want to make sure that the info we put in is ACCURATE and USEFUL for collectors. For example, set titles should reflect the real Japanese name, but also be identifiable to collectors.

Publisher: The publisher is the company that MAKES the cards. This is a PROPER name, meaning it should be capitalized. 'Bandai', not 'bandai' or 'BANDAI'.

Use ?? when you don't know something. For example, if you know the publisher is Bandai, but you don't know what year it was made, 'Bandai, ??' NOT just 'Bandai'. That way we remember that the year information is missing.

If you are not sure about something, put it down anyway, and add a ?. 'Frontier Works?, 2006' or 'TiTokyo, 200?' are both OK.

Order of card types

Each set has a list of different card types. In general, these should go in NUMBER order.

ex.
6 Prisms (1 - 6)
36 Regular cards (7 - 42)

NOT

36 Regular cards (7 - 42)
6 Prisms (1 - 6)

If number doesn't matter, then cards go in order of rarity, with Regular cards being first.

ex.
135 Regular cards (001 - 135)
4 SP cards (SP 1 - SP 4)

NOT
4 SP cards (SP 1 - SP 4)
135 Regular cards (001 - 135)

In Japanese, 'regular' cards are often called 'normal' cards, however, for ACO, they will always be called Regular cards. Cards is NOT capitalized. ex. Regular cards, NOT Regular Cards. Most card types will use 'cards', but Prisms don't. Ex. Prisms, NOT Prism cards.

It may sound picky, but it looks better if all the information is consistent. I thought really hard about whether to capitalize cards or not, actually, but decided not to.

Some regular cards have subcategories, like opening cards, character cards, etc. Usually we don't bother with these, unless they have separate numbering (like the Eva CM cards), but if you want to add this information, you can, as a SUBcategory of regular cards, not by themselves.

Will add more and try to organize this properly...
