Site's slow

I feel the site has slowed down signficantly, especially the non-gallery portion.

Since we started setting targets last year, not only has the number of scans gone up, but so have users. Last month, ACO gobbled up 21 GIGABYTES of bandwidth.

Part of that is my fault, I haven't really been keeping track. And it doesn't really matter financially how much bandwidth or space ACO takes up, however it has clearly started to impact performance.

I'm going to go through some things on this list: http://drupal.org/node/2601

I've optimized the mysql tables, and removed some modules that weren't being used. You may see some more changes.

I don't feel that the gallery itself has slowed down a lot, but please let me know if that is the case.

I think a lot may also be attributed to bots that are crawling the site and taking up a lot. Some of them are spam bots, but some of them are good bots, like Google.

Another thing is I've been stubborn about keeping old tracking entries... the database on them is huuuuuuuuuuge. ;)

So there are a few things I can do, but only a few. I may have to pare down the site significantly, by reducing the number of blocks and features to improve performance, but we'll see. Please post here if you run into problems.

Clearly, though, making the site so only registered members can post was good, there are like 20 pages of spam comments in the gallery. :(

When the site's busy, some

When the site's busy, some non-essential modules will shut down. Mostly this is the tracker, and most of this busyness is caused by bots (just now it said there were 52 guests online! ;p).

I've also set the Gallery to not refresh so much, so you may not see the very latest view counts or latest images. If you are concerned, you can hit refresh, but we don't update THAT much, so I am comfortable with these settings.
