Kim C sent me these cards, and I'm having a tough time identifying them because they don't have numbers on them.
They look for all the world like Carddass Masters cards, except even early CM had numbers.
They're definitely made by Bandai, but it only says that in Japanese, so you may think Sega/Red (they own the Sakura Wars franchise).
They were made in 1997, but the copyright says 1996.
I have seen what the Sakura Taisen sega collection looks like (with the 90 regs?), and it's not that.
Any info on this set is really appreciated!

Carddass/ Vending Set
I found some info on ebay.com, but I am not sure it is correct. At least there are 36 regs and 8 prism. But one seller listed some numbers for the cards:
Brand: SAKURA WARS Gals Carddass Part 1 REGULAR Card Set of 36
36 REGULAR Cards (#3, #5 - #9, #11 - #15, #17 - #21, #23 - #27, #29 - #33, #35 - #44)
BANDAI, Made in Japan
Release Date: 1997
Don't know where he got them.
something to go on...
Hmmm....
There was a Sakura Wars Carddass set with 44 cards.
The pictures below suggest they are the same.

And this auction kindly has the backs of the cards, along with the box, so perfect confirmation:

What I don't understand, though, is why they don't have numbers. Where did the person in the ebay auction get them?

They do have numbers...hah.
The numbers are very old style Japanese, young kids wouldn't really know it, but they probably thought it fit with the theme.
I think I've got the numbers now. I've cross checked them with a Japanese card list site and there is one difference. This is likely a mistake on the part of the site, but I have asked Kim C to double double check for sure.
DEFINITELY the numbers that are currently on the site are WRONG! Please do not use them! I have put a warning message.

Are just the numbers of the
Are just the numbers of the scans wrong or are the numbers in my post above wrong too? If you can give me the numbers I would rename the scans.

no worries
I've already gone through them and numbered them. I can just delete what we have and upload them quickly. I just want to get confirmation from Kim C about that one card, then I can upload them. I may also email that guy with the cardlist site about the correction.
I think the set info you have is right, it's just the cards that aren't right. When Kim C first told me about them, I asked her to just make her best guess on the number, because we needed something to keep the scans straight. She has also donated the prisms that go with the set, so no worries, we'll soon have a complete set!

Ahh...yes...this set!
I remember having the same trouble with the numbering system too. Luckily, having played enough mahjong, I picked up on it after inspecting (read...staring at for too long) the card backs.
There have been at least three series of these cards and the latest one (Sakura Taisen 2) has romaji/arabic numbers in addition to the kanji/traditional chinese ones.
Which card do you need help with. My sets are not complete, but, perhaps I can help.
